My name is Michael Mims, owner and operator of Mims Outdoors. I am 26 years old, married, and make a living as an entomologist. My passion is hunting and fishing. I have been a guide for the last ten years. I enjoy meeting new people, and watching them have fun doing what I love to do. I really enjoy guiding and dealing with kids.
Fishing Grenada Lake
If you are looking for big crappie, Grenada Lake is the best lake in the world to catch them. It is not uncommon to catch a limit of fish 2 lbs. plus. Grenada Lake has plenty of 3 lb. crappie. My largest crappie was 3 lbs. 10 oz. I have however, seen a couple crappie around 4 lbs.
I have fished Grenada Lake for 20 years. I have some retired friends that help me serve as guides, all of whom have 30 years plus experience on the lake.
Grenada Lake offers year round fishing. Summer is good for trolling, which is done from a pontoon boat. If you like relaxing and catching a lot of fish, this is the perfect way to spend a day in the shade.
Early fall is a great time to catch big fish in shallow water. October-May is prime for jig fishing in shallow water. I prefer wading in shallow water. We can accommodate any age and ability. All our boats are pretty big and safe. If I do not think the fish are biting, I am going to tell you. This is not an operation to take your money, and send you on your way.
